1. Creating Custom Filters
You can create custom filters in the following way:
Steps:
Go to the Social Listening module
Open any page that supports filtering (such as Topics, Comparisons, or Mention Streams)
In the filter panel, select Custom Filters
Click [+ New Filter]
Name the filter and configure the required filtering conditions
Save the filter — it can then be reused across multiple analysis scenarios
Once created, all custom filters are stored in the Custom Filter List for easy management and reuse.
2. Managing Custom Filters
On the custom filter management page, you can:
View all created custom filters
Search filters by name
Edit existing filter conditions
Delete filters that are no longer needed
Any changes made to a custom filter take effect immediately.
All analysis views using that filter will be updated automatically.
3. Using Custom Filters in Different Scenarios
(1) Using Custom Filters in Topics
On the Topic Details page, you can select a custom filter from the filter panel to further include or exclude data within the topic, enabling more refined and targeted analysis results.
(2) Splitting Topics in Comparison Analysis
In comparison analysis, custom filters can also be used to split a topic:
Apply saved custom filters to divide a single topic into multiple comparison items
The split applies only to the current comparison view
It does not affect the original topic settings and does not create new topics
The maximum number of comparison items after splitting is 20
This method is ideal when the number of topics is limited and you want to compare the same topic across multiple dimensions such as products, channels, or audiences.
(3) Using Custom Filters in Mentions Stream
In the Mentions Stream, custom filters help you quickly locate content that meets specific conditions, enabling efficient review, screening, and handling of key mentions.
(4) Reusing Custom Filters in Briefings and Alerts
Custom filters can also be applied to:
Briefings: Monitor changes only in content that meets specific conditions
Alerts: Trigger notifications for particular types of mentions
By reusing custom filters, you can maintain consistent analysis logic and significantly reduce repetitive configuration work.
4. Best Practices for Using Custom Filters
Save complex but frequently used conditions as custom filters to avoid repeated setup
In comparison analysis, prioritize splitting topics with custom filters rather than creating many similar topics
Use clear, descriptive filter names that reflect the filtering logic
(e.g., Overseas Media, KOL Content, Negative Sentiment)
Summary
Custom filters are a core tool in OneSight for in-depth and granular analysis.
With a configure once, reuse everywhere approach, custom filters help you efficiently uncover insights across multiple dimensions and deliver more valuable analytical conclusions.
